Melbourne Farmers Markets is delighted to announce that the Carlton Farmers’ Market has found a new home and will be relocating to the Carlton North Primary School (CNPS) aka Lee Street Primary School, from Saturday 7 October, 2017.
“It’s sad to say goodbye to the partnership MFM has developed with Carlton Primary School over the last 3 years, but we’re so pleased they have funding for the new facilities they need. On the other hand, Carlton North [Primary School] is in such a great spot for a market, we see a lot of opportunity and potential in the move.” Says MFM managing director, Miranda Sharp.
The Carlton Farmers’ Market will continue with the same name and trading hours of 8:00am-1:00pm on the first Saturday of every month. The mix of accredited Victorian producers and makers will also continue with the addition of some new faces!
CNPS is located on the corner of Canning, Lee and O’Grady Streets. Entry to the market is via the O’Grady Street gates…only a short walk from the market’s original location! The site is accessible via public transport (bus routes 250 & 251; trams 1,6 & 96), bikes paths of Rathdowne St or Canning St and there is also limited parking available.
“We are really pleased to be hosting the monthly Carlton Farmers’ Market. At CNPS we are continuously looking for ways to build our school and community connections and engagement, so this opportunity is one too good to miss!” Says Carlton North PS School Council.
Carlton Farmers’ Market Manager, Lana McLean says the move will allow the market to grow and provide opportunities for local residents to connect with, and support local farmers and producers. Carlton Farmers’ Market will also continue to build on waste-free initiatives through the City of Yarra Partnering for Sustainability grant. Lana encourages shoppers to “bring your own coffee mug and reusable bags to the market, and make a positive impact on our local food system and the environment”.
