Coburg Farmers’ Market relocating to Coburg Primary School from Winter
Melbourne Farmers Markets is delighted to announce that the Coburg Farmers’ Market has found a new home and will be relocating to Coburg Primary School (92 Bell Street, Coburg 3058) from Saturday 2 June, 2018.
“It’s sad to say goodbye to Coburg North Primary School, the original home of Coburg Farmers’ Market. Over our time there we have grown from a fortnightly market to a thriving weekly market and worked alongside a fantastic team of parent volunteers and their certified pancake-makers! Says MFM managing director, Miranda Sharp.
Coburg North Primary School has received funding from the State Government to upgrade their school buildings and grounds and is the main reason for the re-location of the market.
“Having said that, we are really positive about our move to Coburg Primary School. The School Principal and School Council have shown great enthusiasm to host the market and its location is superb – only a short distance from our old site with the added benefits of being closer to public transport and having greater access to parking. We are also thrilled to neighbour Peppertree Place and Pentridge.” Continues MFM managing director, Miranda Sharp.
The Coburg Farmers’ Market will continue with the same name and trading hours of 8:00am-1:00pm every Saturday. The mix of accredited Victorian producers and makers will also continue with the addition of some new faces ready for the Winter.
The market is a 3-minute drive, 20-minute walk or 7-minute bus ride from the market’s original location. The site is accessible via public transport (bus routes 513, 527, 534, 561 & 903; tram 19; and a short walk from the Upfield Line), bike paths of Upfield, O’Hea St and the Merri Creek and there is also parking available.
“Coburg Primary is absolutely thrilled to host the Farmers’ Market each week enhancing our diverse and connected community.” Says Coburg Primary School Principal, Jane Hancock. Coburg Primary School will run a fundraising BBQ at the market every fortnight and donate their space every other week to local initiatives and organisations.
Coburg Farmers’ Market Manager, Prue Clark, says she hopes the move will allow the market to grow. “We already have a strong community of regulars who have been supporting the market for several years. We hope the new location is close enough to the old site to keep them coming regularly, and that the new location will give more Coburg residents access to what our Victorian farmers and producers have to offer.”
