A Food Hub Visioning Day was held on Thursday 25 May, highlighting the strong interest from many Darebin locals and community organisations in collaborating and building a Communal Food Hub. A buzz of energy and discussion filled room as we considered the potential for impact and change within our local food system.

Three Key Objectives were explored:

1. To inspire and break new ground in the collaborative stewardship of a transformative and innovative food hubs
2. To establish an inclusive and equitable place for many groups and organisations to grow, share, make, learn about and eat healthy and fair food
3. To support and incubate a growing diversity of local food enterprises and social businesses

It was a vibrant day with representatives from DIVRS, Sustain: The Australian Food Network, City of Darebin, City of Yarra, Moreland City Council, Northlink, Green Gym, Conservation Volunteers, Farmer Incubator, FareShare, Right to Food Coalition, Melbourne Farmers Markets, Victorian Farmers Market Association, Transition Darebin, Urban Agronomist, Repair Cafe, Sprout, Community Hubs Australia, The University of Melbourne, La Trobe University, STREAT, 3000acres, Cultivating Communities, Open Food Network, Farmwall, Alphington Netball Club, Moreland Food Gardens Network, Rocket Seeder and Darebin Parklands Association.
