COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
Updated: 29 September
YES! Farmers markets are an essential food service under current restrictions, and Melbourne Farmers Markets (MFM) are operating where we can.
Remember, we are an essential food service (not a place to gather or socialise) and all DHHS recommended actions while shopping should be followed including; respecting customer limits, wearing a fitted mask (unless you have a lawful reason for not doing so), and not attending if you’re awaiting COVID test results.
Make sure you’re across our safety precautions below and rest assured we’re experienced in the management of these, having continually traded throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We have limits on the number of customers allowed on site at any one time, have implemented strict precautions, increased staff, and altered market layouts and flow.
We are confident that the open-air environment of our farmers markets, together with the below precautions and operational adjustments, means our markets provide some of the safest shopping options to you.
We also have a contactless pick-up available from Alphington every Sunday. For more information, join our Melbourne Farmers Marketplace group.

Coburg Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday from 8am-1pm in the grounds of the Coburg Primary School, 92 Bell St. Customer entry is via Urquhart Street.
The site is accessible by public transport via multiple bus routes, tram 19, and the Upfield Train Line. Bike paths of Upfield, O’Hea St and the Merri Creek are close by and there is parking available at the Town Hall, Coburg Leisure Centre and along Urquhart St.
In addition to the wonderful array of Victorian producers and food businesses that attend each week, often there is face painting or chalk drawing happening – always something extra for the kids. This market embodies a vibrant community spirit, and welcomes visitors from near and far. Coburg FM is plastic bag free and moving towards becoming completely waste free so please BYO reusable bags and coffee cup.
Sociable dogs under control and on short leads are most welcome.
From April 2013 until June 2018, the Coburg Farmers’ Market was located at Coburg North Primary School on O’Hea St. Coburg North Primary School received funding from the State Government to upgrade their school buildings and grounds and was the main reason for the re-location of the market.
Please note: The nature of working with farmers means that unforeseen events do occur from time to time which may prevent producers listed from attending the market. The stallholder list is updated on Thursday, prior to a market day.
Melbourne Farmers Markets respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Land on which Coburg FM is held, the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to them, their culture and their Elders, past, present and future.
