The Jones family have been growing potatoes in Warragul in West Gippsland for four generations. The property is at the foothills of the Strzelecki mountains and consists of free draining red to chocolate clay loams with permanent streams running through most gullies.

The Jones family grow a number of spud varieties including AC Sunbury, Nicola, Dutch Cream, King Edward, Kipfler, Wilwash, Maris Piper, and the crowd favourite, Blue Moon.

Gordon recommends storing potatoes in a well-ventilated, cool, dark place. Later in the season, if kept for some time, the potatoes will begin to grow and you may notice small white sprouts. These are fine to just peel away and will not detract from the edibility of the potato.
