We’ve now launched our online store called Melbourne Farmers Marketplace!
This has been in the planning for some time, but the current health crisis has made it a priority for us in order to be able to continue to connect Victorian farmers to urban communities direct.
We are starting small to make sure we get it right, and adding more producers every day. Our plan is that very soon you will have as many options as you’d expect at a real live farmers market!
Our large open site in Alphington is the perfect space for you to collect your order, with all the COVID-19 precautions to ensure no direct contact transaction. We will have packed and stored your order in our refrigerated storage as it arrives in from regional Victoria.
Melbourne Farmers Marketplace combines the 18 years of experience, founding the farmers market network in Melbourne, and supporting small-scale farmers. Our team is predominantly made up of grown-up country kids, who understand the realities of working on the land, and are determined to keep local agriculture healthy with a realistic future. We have also just completed the build of the Melbourne Food Hub community kitchen, where we will also be coming out of retirement to start take-home meals and a range of preserved products to add to our shop, with catering services added in future when things calm down.
In a nutshell, it works like this:
- Order by 2pm Thursday. Collect from 3pm Sunday at 2 Wingrove St, Alphington
- Order by 2pm Monday. Collect from 3pm Wednesday at 2 Wingrove St, Alphington
This is a challenging but exciting time because it is forcing us to innovate and find new ways to build our customer base. Supporting us to stay afloat during this health crisis gives the best chance for the 300+ small businesses we support. We are focussed on our very simple principles, adding convenience and traceability for your peace of mind. Everybody says “we all want to know where our food comes from” and there couldn’t be a more important time to be sure of that.
